North–South Corridor in Novena
The North–South Corridor matters to The Serra Residences buyers because street conditions affect everyday journeys. Assess current access separately from improvements intended after construction.
What the project is intended to change
The corridor is planned to improve north–south travel and allow more surface space for walking, cycling, public transport and community use. It extends beyond Novena. Its intended benefits do not guarantee a faster journey for every household.
Use the revised timetable
In its 17 September 2026 update, LTA revised the expected phased opening of the viaduct to 2029 and the tunnel to 2031. Older references to 2027 and 2029 no longer reflect that update. These remain project expectations, not a promise that every street will change on one date.
Why local construction is complex
LTA explains that Novena works involve difficult ground conditions near the operational North–South Line. It also describes progressive reinstatement of roads and footpaths before full opening. A transport opening date and a particular pavement reopening are therefore different milestones.
Check today’s routes
Walk from Bassein Road to Novena MRT using current signs. Note temporary crossings and whether alternative paths suit your household. Do the same for regular destinations in Health City Novena. Test routes with anyone whose mobility needs affect the journey.
Use two time horizons
Make one assessment using amenities and routes available now, and another considering planned changes. Keep them separate when evaluating price and convenience. Recheck official notices before moving or making a time-sensitive travel plan. Construction arrangements can change, and future benefits should not replace a realistic assessment of present-day access.
